![Starter Kata storyboard](Starter%20Kata%20storyboard.jpg) The Storyboard has five essential sections: 1. A small area to capture the **Challenge**. 2. An area to document your **Current Condition** with facts, graphs, and data. 3. An area to define the **Next [Target Condition](Target%20Conditions.md)** you are working toward. 4. An **[Obstacle](Obstacles.md) Parking Lot** is a simple list that only tracks those Obstacles that might be preventing you from reaching the Target Condition. (Do not track obstacles outside the Target Condition here - use an independent Obstacle Holding Area for that.) 5. An area for the [Experiment Logs](Experiment%20Log.md), with one log per Obstacle you are working on. Unlike the above screenshot shows, the **Experimenting Record** area often can be quite large. The Current and Next Target Condition areas can be broken further down into three fields (not shown above, but similar to the idea of the "Current/target condition form" above): - **Achieve-by date** (When?): Fixed to "now/today" for the Current Condition; The predicted date for the Next Target Condition. - **Outcome score/metric** (What?): The desired outcome tracked by a single score/metric - if the Current Condition score/metric is the same or better than the Next Target Condition's score/metric, then the Target Condition has been reached. - **Operating pattern** (How?): The current and desired [Operating Patterns](Operating%20Patterns.md) that should be met to achieve the outcome. Heresay, assumptions, and conjectures have no place on the Storyboard, except possibly in the first and last columns of the Experiment Log.
