XP needs basic safety from hunger, harm, and threats. The fear of a job loss threatens these needs. Humans need the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to their society. Teams work best when they identify as a group from which they receive validation, to which they have [[Accountability]], and where everyone is [[Result-Driven]] towards the team's goals. Every team member must have the opportunity for growth, to expand their skills and perspectives. Tying in to [[Management/Extreme Programming/The Values of XP/Respect]], team members must be understood by and deeply understand their peers. Try to separate your life into private matters that you only discuss with your life companion, personal matters to discuss with the people that have earned your trust, and public/work matters you can discuss with anyone.
